Performing arts students from Coventry University will be playing to the public over the next four weeks as part of an annual celebration of the city’s creative talent.

Live plays, diverse dance performances and music to suit all tastes are amongst the shows on offer during this year’s Performing Arts Festival at Coventry University, which launched with a special preview programme at the Ellen Terry Building on its city centre campus on Tuesday 21 April.

The Performing Arts Festival forms part of the university’s Degree Show 2015, in which students from its School of Art and Design will be showcasing their work to friends, families, prospective employers and public audiences at venues across the city and beyond over the next three months.

The annual Degree Show, which provides a public platform for the next generation of creative artists, designers, musicians and performers from Coventry University, has proved immensely popular in the past. This year’s event is sure to be similarly well received and audiences can look forward to everything from live music gigs and theatre productions to art displays, fashion shows, films and photography exhibitions.

Professor Mark Evans, Associate Dean of Coventry University’s School of Art and Design, said:

The Degree Show is a highlight in our creative calendar and the culmination of three years’ dedicated study for our final year students. It is a fitting finale to their time with us and a wonderful opportunity for them to shine by showcasing their works to their peers and public audiences alike.

There really is something for everyone during the Performing Arts Festival and the Degree Show as a whole. They are a celebration of the talent that is emerging from this creative city of Coventry  - that’s actually our theme for this year -  and I hope that as many people as possible will join us over the next few months to enjoy the work of these up and coming artists.

The Performing Arts Festival takes place at city centre locations and beyond until Friday 22 May as part of Coventry University’s Degree Show 2015, which runs until early July. Further information, including dates of performances and exhibitions and how to book tickets is available on the Degree Show website.
