Coventry University’s sports scholarship programme is the latest to be accredited by the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS).

Backed by Sport England, the TASS Dual Career Accreditation helps universities support aspiring athletes to focus on their education through personalised study programmes, flexible study options and access to online resources.

Coventry’s sports scholars have access to personalised study programmes, mentoring and flexible study options - and it is hoped the TASS accreditation will encourage others not to give up on higher education.

This accreditation recognises and validates the support that we offer through our sports scholarships and is a testament to hard work by staff members across the university. We hope this will not only show how much investment we put into our athletes but encourage others to consider an education alongside their sport.

Tom Shakespeare, sports scholarship officer

We’re delighted to be awarding Dual Career Accreditation to the first colleges and universities. Dual career support is at the forefront of what TASS does and that’s why the accreditation scheme is so important for us in recognising those institutions who place precedence on their athletes’ education too.

Guy Taylor, national director at TASS

Our future sporting champions shouldn’t have to choose between getting an education and excelling at their sport, but they are at risk of dropping out of one of them if they don’t get the right support.
