The 2020 QS World University Rankings by Subject put Coventry University in the 201 to 250 bracket for this subject, improving on last year’s rank of between 301 and 350.

The rankings assess the world’s top universities in individual subject areas, covering 48 disciplines, and aim to help prospective students identify the world’s leading institutions in their chosen field.

Study locations for Coventry University’s business students include Coventry Business School, which boasts the largest academic trading floor in Europe, and the Coventry University London campus located in the heart of the capital’s financial district, which is home to more than 1,800 students from over 80 countries.

This ranking demonstrates our commitment to delivering a world-class business education to our students and is testament to the hard work of our staff. Their dedication to providing students with a challenging, thought-provoking and rewarding education that makes them work-ready for a global career is rightly reflected in this achievement, which also highlights our international reputation and research impact in this area.

Professor John Latham CBE, Vice-Chancellor at Coventry University

The QS subject rankings are a valuable tool for prospective international students when deciding where to study, so this result is a fantastic boost for our global credentials. Coventry Business School prides itself on enhancing the quality of the educational experience through its international outlook – including membership of The European Foundation for Management Development and active participation in The Chartered Association of Business Schools – so I’m delighted it has received this recognition.

Professor Kai Peters, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for the Faculty of Business and Law

This year’s QS World University Rankings by Subject also placed Coventry University in the top 500 for its courses in Mechanical, Aeronautical & Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, and Economics & Econometrics.

The result follows last year’s announcement that Coventry University had, for the first time, been awarded a five-star overall rating by the QS Stars awards system – confirming the breadth of its excellence across teaching, research and other key indicators.

It also received five stars in the individual categories of teaching, employability, internationalisation, facilities, innovation and inclusiveness, highlighting its sector-leading strengths in the areas of student satisfaction, graduate prospects, global collaborations and diversity.

Coventry University has consistently achieved excellent results in key rankings in recent years, including:

  • Top 15 for five years running in the Guardian University Guide (2016-2020)
  • Awarded University of the Year for Student Experience (The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2019)
  • 1st for Overseas Experiences (based on student trips abroad - HESA 2016/17)
  • 2nd for Teaching Excellence (Times Higher UK metrics ranking 2017)
