About

Evgenia Ralli has been a Lecturer in Law at Coventry Law School since January 2022. Evgenia presently leads the Research Skills module on our LL.M. programmes, as well as contributes to the undergraduate EU Law module.

Evgenia’s broad research interests lie in the fields of EU law, in the interrelation and interplay between Law, Finance and Technology and more broadly in the intersections between law and economy.

Career overview

Before joining our school, Evgenia was a PhD researcher at the European University Institute in Florence (Italy) where, under the supervision of Prof. Hans-Wolfgang Micklitz, she was conducting research on shadow banking and the role of law in its creation and growth. Her PhD research was funded by a grant issued by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

Moreover, during her PhD studies, Evgenia was a part-time Teaching Associate at the Florence School of Banking and Finance (EUI), a Visiting Researcher at the LSE under the mentorship of Prof. Michael Wilkinson, a Research Assistant to Prof. Hans-Wolfgang Micklitz as well as a Legal Trainee at the European Systemic Risk Board Secretariat. In addition, Evgenia has also worked as a Qualified Lawyer in Greece and as a Legal Trainee at the CJEU in the Chamber of the Judge Lars Bay Larsen.

Evgenia completed her undergraduate degree (LL.B.-4 years) at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece), her Masters degree (LL.M.) in German Law at Ludwig-Maximilian University in Munich (LMU), her Masters degree (LL.M.) in European Financial and Economic Criminal Law at the University of Luxembourg and her Masters degree (LL.M.) in Comparative, European and International Law at the European University Institute.

Research

Evgenia currently is conducting research upon shadow banking and the role of EU Financial, Banking and Monetary Law and its evolution in shaping it. Moreover, Evgenia focuses as well on EU Criminal and Financial Criminal Law, the Legal Theory of Finance and the Historical Evolution of Financial and Banking Law.
