Course overview

The Islamic Finance Management Development (IFMD) programme is an executive training programme aimed at professionals working within the Islamic Finance industry. The IFMD has been successfully run over the three years taught at Coventry University’s UK campus.

Course detail

The five day residential programme develops leadership skills within an Islamic Finance context by providing delegates with unique training on a range of topics that are essential for good leadership.

Encouraging staff to perform to their potential and make effective decisions are key to strong leadership so participants will learn essential people management skills and decision-making techniques, delivered by industry experts. The programme will also include sessions on risk management and environmental analysis workshops enabling delegates to learn tools to effectively manage risks in their organisations and structure suitable management responses.

Effective communication is key to good leadership. Delegates will explore how to create presence and deliver confident presentations by a leading British actor. In addition, they will explore the role of crisis management within an organisation and be trained on how to deal with the media using our state-of-the-art media training facilities.

Training will also include a session on Bloomberg using Coventry University’s Trading Floor which is one of the largest academic trading floors in Europe. Delegates will learn how to access and analyse financial information of global companies and financial markets. This session will develop an understanding of financial markets and the effect of geopolitical events. This knowledge enhances skills which will improve data led decisions for effective leaders.

The programme incorporates leading industry experts from the UK who will share their knowledge and bespoke experience related to Islamic Finance. Current topics will be explored, and delegates will have opportunities to engage with top industry leaders from the Islamic Finance industry.

All candidates will be required to participate in group presentations at the end of the week to demonstrate learning from the programme and will be provided a certificate of completion at the end of the session.

The programme will be delivered by both senior academics and industry experts at Coventry University’s campus and includes opportunities for networking over coffee breaks, meals and a cultural visit.
