What’s the difference between an Open Day and an Applicant Experience Day?

If you’ve already attended a Coventry University Open Day, you might be wondering why we’re inviting you back.

The answer? You’re now an applicant who has received an offer from us, or an invitation to an applicant selection session (course interview or portfolio review), and that means it’s time for a more personalised experience.

This guide explains the key differences between Open Days and Applicant Experience Days, so you know what to expect and why attending can help you feel confident about your next steps.

Open Days: exploring your options

Open Days are designed for prospective students who are still deciding where to apply. They offer a broad introduction to Coventry University, showcasing our courses, campus, and student life. You’ll get a feel for what studying here could be like.

They’re ideal for exploring multiple course options, getting a first look at the campus and accommodation, and asking general questions about university life.

Applicant Experience Days: tailored for you

Applicant Experience Days are designed specifically for students who’ve applied to Coventry University. These events are all about helping you feel confident in your decision.

You can expect a more immersive, subject-focused experience, including:

  • Course-specific sessions: Dive deeper into your chosen subject with interactive activities and meet your future tutors.
  • Campus and facilities tours: Explore teaching spaces, labs, studios, and social areas.
  • Accommodation tours: Visit university-owned student accommodation.
  • Student-led campus tours: Get an authentic view of student life from current students.
