Centre for Agroecology, Water and Resilience

The Centre for Agroecology, Water and Resilience is located at Ryton Gardens – a nine hectare site of organic certified agricultural land with demonstration gardens, orchards and ample space for events and activities. With around forty research staff, and over forty postgraduate students, we have well-equipped research facilities including a high performing analytical hub, high specification computing facilities and access to growing spaces, greenhouses and polytunnels.

We are driving innovative, transdisciplinary research on the understanding and development of resilient food and water systems internationally.

Our research develops and integrates new knowledge in agroecological, hydrological, social, and environmental processes, as well as the pivotal role that communities play in developing resilience in food and water systems.
