Abstract

Australia has long been a leading producer and exporter of pulse crops, owing to its favorable climate and advanced agricultural practices. Despite its strong position in the global market, the Australian pulse trade is particularly susceptible to fluctuating agricultural trade policies, including tariffs and quotas. Australia’s reliance on a few key markets, especially India, undermines the resilience of global agricultural supply chains (GASCs), making them more vulnerable to TPU and related disruptions.

This seminar aims to present opportunities and challenges in redesigning and optimising Australia’s export portfolio and supply chain network by taking into account the dynamics of GASCs.
