Coventry University’s campus by the sea welcomed Justine Greening, Secretary of State for Education, today (19 January) during her visit to the Yorkshire seaside town.

The visit to CU Scarborough, which opened in September as part of the town’s £50 million sports and education facility, provided an opportunity for staff and students to showcase Coventry University’s newly opened campus and the growing links with the local area.

Professor Craig Gaskell, Provost of CU Scarborough, said:

“We were delighted to welcome the Education Secretary during her visit to Scarborough to meet our students and staff and learn more about the career-focused higher education we offer at CU Scarborough.

“Coventry University opened the campus to help address the low number of graduates in the Yorkshire coast area, as Scarborough is recognised as an area where high quality education can be transformational to the local community and economy.

“This visit allowed us to showcase the partnership working we have with local employers and the boost this will give to Scarborough and surrounding areas.”
