Coventry University is working with colleges to attract and educate the next generation of nurses, midwives and allied health professionals by creating new progression routes into healthcare for students completing health T Levels.

In collaboration with the NHS and supported by the Office for Students (OfS), the university is aligning its higher-level apprenticeships with health T Levels, giving students from North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College (NWSLC) and Wiltshire College and University Centre a clear pathway into higher education and healthcare careers.

T Levels are a fantastic route into a career in health and care. At Coventry University we welcome more than 1,000 students and apprentices each year across nursing, midwifery and allied health professional programmes.

We’re working closely with our partner colleges and schools to make sure T Level students can see a clear, supported route into these vital professions.

The initiative focuses on supporting six key NHS professions facing workforce shortages: nursing, midwifery, diagnostic radiography, biomedical science, occupational therapy and operating department practice.

By building a pipeline of skilled T Level graduates ready to progress into higher-level apprenticeships and degree programmes, the project aims to ensure future healthcare professionals are equipped with both academic knowledge and real-world experience.

The partnership brings together a wide network of regional and national organisations, including Coventry University, NWSLC, Wiltshire College and University Centre, Coventry College, Warwickshire College Group, Warwickshire Integrated Care Board and the NHS. Together they are developing an integrated system of learning and career progression designed to help young people make an immediate and lasting impact in healthcare.

This innovative collaboration marks a major step in aligning education with workforce needs, helping to strengthen the pipeline of qualified professionals ready to support the NHS both locally and nationally.
