Students in Sri Lanka now have the choice of finishing their studies in their homeland or at Coventry University’s campuses in the UK.
The university works closely with the National Institute of Business Management (NIBM) on the South Asian island and NIBM’s chairman was among representatives who visited Coventry University to sign a new agreement.
The latest collaboration – expanding an offer of transnational education - means that learners on diploma courses run by NIBM or selected Coventry University courses can either finish their studies in Sri Lanka or transfer to finish here in the UK at either the Coventry city centre campus or Coventry University London.
Relevant courses at Coventry University’s city centre campus are in areas such as ethical hacking, computer science and English, among others, while at Coventry University London students can learn about business.
Coventry University has strong relationships and connections with institutions and learners all across the globe, and we are always looking for new ways to enhance the education of those studying with us no matter where they are.
This new agreement with NIBM allows us to welcome students from Sri Lanka to benefit from our TEF Gold Standard teaching here in the UK and exemplifies the depth of the relationship between the two institutions as we continue to move forward together.
Professor Richard Wells, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International) for Coventry University
Dr Gunathilake Tantirigama, Chairman of NIBM, Dr D M A Kulasooriya, Director General of NIBM, and Dr Buddhima Subasinghe, Head of Student Life and Engagement at NIBM, travelled to the UK from Sri Lanka to attend the agreement signing ceremony at Coventry University.
Over the past 57 years NIBM has continually evolved, embracing global best practices in education while staying true to its commitment to excellence. Our adoption of the outcome-based learning model ensures that students are equipped with the skills, knowledge and competencies required by today’s fast-changing industries.
Furthermore, our strategic expansion in Transnational Education (TNE) has strengthened partnerships with globally-recognised universities, providing students with world-class academic pathways and international exposure. One of our most significant collaborations is our long-standing partnership with Coventry University, which has extended close to a decade of excellence. It is truly exciting that we are now expanding opportunities for students to transfer to Coventry University for a wide array of disciplines across various faculties, both at the undergraduate and master’s levels.
We are committed to positioning NIBM as a leading education hub in the region, one that fosters innovation, nurtures talent and empowers the next generation of professionals to excel on a global stage.
Dr D.M.A Kulasooriya, Director General at NIBM
