Coventry University Group has topped this year’s National Student Survey (NSS) in key themes across seven subjects in England.

The UK-wide survey, giving final year higher education students the chance to give feedback on their courses, named Coventry University Group as number one in England across the following subjects at undergraduate level:

  • Learning Disabilities Nursing - in all themes
  • Business Computing - in the theme of Learning Resources
  • Cinematics and Photography - in the themes of Learning Opportunities, Assessment and Feedback, Organisation and Management, and Student Voice
  • Healthcare Science (non-specific) - in the themes of Teaching On My Course, Assessment and Feedback, Academic Support, Organisation and Management and Student Voice
  • History - in themes of Assessment and Feedback, Academic Support and Learning Resources
  • Information Systems - in the theme of Learning Opportunities
  • Medical Technology - in the themes of Teaching On My Course, Learning Opportunities, Assessment and Feedback, Academic Support and Student Voice

The group is also ranked within the top 20 Modern/New universities in the themes of Student Voice (18th) and learning opportunities (19th).

On a regional level Coventry continues to perform well, being ranked in the top ten higher education institutions in the Midlands in the themes of Learning Opportunities (3rd), Student Voice (4th), Assessment and Feedback (5th), Teaching On My Course (5th), Organisation and Management (8th) and Academic Support (10th).

The NSS is one of the largest of its kind in the world and this year almost 346,000 students responded.

To have seven of our subjects named as the best in the country for a variety of themes is a real achievement for us and demonstrates that we continue to provide outstanding outcomes for students. The NSS is an important way for students to have their voices heard and as a sector, it gives us vital feedback to help improve the student experience.

I’m particularly pleased that we have once again been ranked highly in the theme of Student Voice, which demonstrates how our learners feel their voices are heard.

Credit should go to colleagues throughout the Group for the hard work and commitment they have shown in helping us offer the best possible experience for students.

Professor John Latham CBE, Vice-Chancellor at Coventry University Group
