Coventry University could soon welcome learners from Ghana to help prepare them for life in the working world.

The university has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat which will see the two organisations discuss the potential for Coventry University to become the Secretariat’s preferred education provider in the UK.

The Ghana Scholarship Secretariat has been awarding scholarships for post-graduate students from Ghana since 1960 and has awarded more than 45,000 local scholarships with nearly 5,000 students across the globe.

Representatives of the Secretariat travelled from Africa to Coventry University’s city centre campus to sign the agreement, as well as being given a tour of the campus.

Coventry University has a long-standing commitment to helping prepare the industry leaders of the future across the globe and this collaboration would enhance that.

We already have strong links with Africa through our Global Hub in Rwanda and recently signed another MoU with a university in Uganda, so this step forward with the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat proves how invaluable such connections can be.

Richard Wells, Coventry University’s Pro-Vice-Chancellor (International)

We at the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat are delighted to strengthen our collaboration with Coventry University. Our government is committed to sponsor our vibrant scholars to study abroad and expect them to come back with requisite professionalism and exposure to augment our workforce and improve our human resource capacity.

Dr Kingsley Agyemang, Registrar at Ghana Scholarship Secretariat
