About

Dr Kabiru Mohammed is Course Director for the BSc (Hons) Ethical Hacking & Cyber Security at Coventry University, where he leads programme management, curriculum design, and strategic collaboration with industry partners. He teaches across undergraduate and postgraduate levels, covering topics such as penetration testing, digital forensics, network security, and malware analysis. His leadership has seen the course recognised as “Course of the Year” for two consecutive years.

Career overview

Kabiru has extensive teaching and leadership experience in cyber security and computer forensics. Prior to his current role, he served as Deputy Course Director at Coventry University, and as Lecturer and End-Point Assessment Planner at De Montfort University. His international teaching experience includes transnational education delivery in Hong Kong, and link tutor roles for partner programmes in Denmark and Greece. He has also worked in the IT industry as an IT Technician and Administrator.

Research

Kabiru’s research focuses on privacy-preserving data mining, anomaly detection, digital forensics, and the ethical and security implications of large language models. He has published in peer-reviewed journals and conferences including IEEE, Springer, MDPI, and ETHICOMP, with ongoing projects in LLM-based threat detection. He also serves as a reviewer for the Journal of Responsible Technology and the International Journal of Electronic Security and Digital Forensics.
