Project overview

Nyobolt Ltd is bringing to the market an ultra-fast charging battery technology, providing a solution to critical unmet needs in the automotive sector and beyond.

Providing significant advantages over current state-of-the-art, this innovative battery drops vehicle charging from hours to minutes, with a similar or improved performance output compared to a bank of batteries double its size thanks to high power density. Further, Nyobolt batteries have a long lifetime, low risk of premature failure and are recyclable, resulting in a very small carbon footprint and creating user confidence.

Thanks to its rapid charge/discharge capabilities and high cycle-life capabilities, the Nyobolt's product is particularly well suited for motorsport and ultra-premium automotive as well as for heavy-duty material moving applications and others.

Although automotive is the primary application, Nyobolt's cost-competitive technology is also applicable for other industries that demand rapid charging and high cycle-life, such as power tools and robotics.

The company was founded by Professor Clare Grey and Dr Sai Shivareddy in 2019 and draws on a decade of research on new battery materials within Prof Grey's group at the University of Cambridge. Nyobolt and the consortium seek to optimise formulation to extend operating temperature and enhance cycle life.
