University’s Student Services Department Strikes Gold

Coventry University’s Student Services department has been awarded the prestigious Investors in People Gold Award, in recognition of its first class people management.

The Gold Award represents the achievement of world class best practice and shows that Student Services is operating at the very highest level of people management.

Less than one in 1000 organisations recognised by Investors in People has achieved the Gold standard and Student Services is believed to be one of only six Higher Education/Further Education establishments to have achieved this award nationally.

Tracy Cullis, the Director of Student Services at Coventry University, said:

“This award is a fantastic achievement for Student Services and is a direct result of the energy and effort shown every day by all our staff. We have excellent staff and managers who are always prepared to go the extra mile to lead and develop their teams promoting good practice and leadership skills. “

Student Services employs 182 staff and 80 students to deliver support services and activities.

To achieve the Investors in People Gold Award and also the Customer Service Excellence Award, Student Services set up a working party called the Continuous Improvement Group (CIG).

Student Services is currently the only area within the University to have achieved the Gold Award. 

The Chair of the Group Jackie Fazakarley could not be prouder of the achievements and hard work of the dedicated staff.

“The Group was formed from across the department, combining all levels of staff to ensure that all areas were well represented. The CIG has been truly inspirational and I would like to express my thanks and appreciation to all concerned for their commitment and enthusiasm, but also to assure them that the work doesn’t stop here. We need to continue to maintain our achievement and go from strength to strength.' 

Student Services are now well on their way becoming Champions for Investors in People where they can represent Coventry University nationally mentoring and supporting other universities and businesses in achieving the standard by providing the best practice which they possess.
