Coventry University joined the Lord Mayor of London on a business visit to Istanbul earlier this week, and organised a public lecture at its new partner institution Kadir Has University.

Highlighting Coventry's increased prominence on the global education and business scenes, senior staff from the University were part of the visit to Kadir Has by Fiona Woolf CBE – the 686th Lord Mayor of London – on March 17.

Coventry University and Kadir Has University jointly hosted a presentation with key speakers outlining how Turkey is becoming a significant financial centre in the twenty-first century.

Speakers included H. Ersin Özince (chairman, Isbank), Mustafa Kemal Yilmaz (executive vice president, Borsa İstanbul) and Professor Stuart Weinstein (head of Coventry University's Law School) – as well as the Lord Mayor herself.

The event follows the recent signing by Coventry and Kadir Has of a number of agreements signalling a long-term strategic partnership between the universities.

Underlining each university's commitment to increase global opportunities for staff and students of both organisations, the partnership offers collaborative academic programmes to prepare students for global careers, and builds on strong research links between the institutions.
