Coventry University’s up and coming computing talent will be displaying their work at the University’s celebrated New Wizards film show on Wednesday 24 April.

Now in its sixth consecutive year, New Wizards is an annual creative and computing showcase which celebrates those who embrace the latest technologies to create innovative, exciting products. The popular event forms part of Coventry University’s ongoing commitment to promote emerging talent, build links with business and produce industry ready graduates.

As well as allowing students to show off their skills, the New Wizards event provides them with the opportunity to network with potential employers.  Amongst the many companies already signed up to attend this year’s show are the BBC, Blitz Games Studios, Tesco Mobile, National Grid and Birmingham Airport with more likely to follow.

The New Wizards event, which will be held in Coventry University’s £55million high-tech Engineering and Computing Building, consists of a showcase in which students will demonstrate and discuss their projects and a film show, which offers an entertaining snapshot of their creative computing efforts.

The showcase gives students on courses such as Computing, Games Technology, Multimedia Computing, Ethical Hacking and Computer Science the chance to exhibit their work to family and friends and also provides a great opportunity for them to sell their skills to major industry figures.

The film show, which will run throughout the event, is a visual celebration of the best work that students have to offer in areas such as 3D modelling, games design and digital animation.

Peter Every, associate head of computing in Coventry University’s Faculty of Engineering and Computing, said:

We’re proud to be presenting the New Wizards film show for the sixth consecutive year.

It’s a fantastic opportunity for our students to get their work in the spotlight and to promote themselves and their talents to industry insiders.

As with previous shows, we have a number of prestigious companies attending, which illustrates the high esteem in which our computing students are held.

I’ve no doubt whatsoever that New Wizards 2013 will be a resounding success and I’m very much looking forward to what will be a superb demonstration of the creative, computing talent we have here at Coventry University.
