Coventry University is looking for new people to join its Board of Governors from September 2011 and welcomes anyone who may be interested.

The Board of Governors carries responsibility for ensuring the effective management of the University and for planning its future development.

The board is made up of individuals drawn from outside the University with experience in the areas of business, industry, commerce and other professional and charitable sectors.

Governors are involved with overseeing the University’s activities, determining its future direction and fostering an environment in which the University’s mission is achieved and the potential of students is maximised.

The term of office for a University governor is usually a fixed term of 3 years, with the option to serve for a further term.  Appointments are of a public service nature and therefore are not remunerated.  The University will, however, meet reasonable expenses claims.

It is an exciting time to be part of the Board of Governors as Coventry is investing £150m on redeveloping the campus and enhancing its reputation in the global education market with partnerships already established in China, India, Hong Kong and Malaysia, to name but a few.

Also in September 2010, the University opened a London Campus which offers a range of business-orientated courses for international students.

Anyone interested in becoming a Governor should send an up-to-date CV, together with a brief statement of what they can bring to the role to: the Clerk of the Board of Governors, Matt Challoner, Coventry University, Priory Street, Coventry CV1 5FB. Telephone 024 7688 7696.

Alternatively, you can e-mail matthew.challoner@coventry.ac.uk

All applications need to arrive no later than Friday, 15 April 2011.

The University is committed to a policy of equality and diversity and welcomes expressions of interest from all sections of the community.
