Coventry University has risen a further seven places to 51st overall in the Complete University Guide 2015 league table published today, and several of its subject fields excel with seven areas ranked in the UK's top 20.

The latest rankings continue the University's impressive forward momentum, which last year saw it climb the Guardian and the Times and Sunday Times league tables to become the country's leading modern university in both – and the Times and Sunday Times guide's 'Modern University of the Year'.

Today's results, which measure student satisfaction, research quality and graduate prospects amongst other criteria, make Coventry the number one modern university in the Midlands and second best in the UK.

The University remains the best in the Midlands (and seventh overall in the UK) for student satisfaction, and is also ranked in the UK's top 20 for a number of subject areas, including food science – for which it is top ten – dance, drama and cinematics; physiotherapy; hospitality, leisure, recreation and tourism; sports science; art and design; and communications and media studies.

The rankings are the first to be published under new vice-chancellor John Latham's tenure, and come ahead of several significant developments at the University including an ambitious new research strategy and the opening in September of the Institute for Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering.

John Latham said:

We're pleased to see that the efforts of staff and our ongoing improvements in performance across the University are continuing to positively impact our reputation and our position in the national league tables.

There's a year of exciting developments ahead for Coventry University, and we'll be continuing the good work we're doing to provide an excellent experience for students so they can achieve strong grades and find a good job when they graduate.
