It's all systems go at Coventry University ahead of this year's clearing process.

With A-Level results day fast approaching (Thursday 15th August), the University is encouraging prospective students to get in touch from today – including anyone who may not have planned to go to university but has had a change of mind.

The University – which recently rose to 33rd overall in the Guardian University Guide 2014 to be ranked the number one modern university in the UK – has a dedicated clearing hotline which is now open for business, and calls are being taken on +44 (0)24 7679 1791 where a member of the admissions team will be available to talk through the options available.

While the ever popular nursing and midwifery courses have once again filled up, come results day sixth-formers looking to progress into higher education will still have a chance to secure themselves a spot on some of the University's courses, covering everything from business and engineering to illustration and design.

Students applying to the University through clearing are also being encouraged to attend its open day on Saturday 17th August to meet with tutors, discuss and view accommodation options and take part in a campus tour. Additional daily drop-in visits will be available during the clearing period as well, starting on Friday 16th August.

Coventry University College will also have places available on its flexible degree programmes, with the separate clearing hotline +44 (0)24 7765 9659. The college's courses have been created as an alternative to a conventional degree, with modules designed to fit around a part-time job. An open day will be taking place at the college on Saturday 17th August.

Professor Ian Marshall, deputy vice-chancellor of Coventry University, said:

With applications up again this year we expect our courses to fill up fast from A-level results day onwards, so we would encourage prospective students who want to secure a place to check our website and then get in touch via our clearing hotline.

The University's clearing hotline (+44 (0)24 76 791 791) is now open during office hours (8.30am to 5pm) and will be open from 7am to 7pm on both Thursday 15th and Friday 16th August, and from 10am to 4pm over the weekend.

Further information about clearing – including details of the open day and drop-in visits, and courses for which places are available on results day – can be viewed at www.coventry.ac.uk/clearing.
