Two fashion students from Coventry University are in the running for a national design award.

Angelina Wanczarskyj and Alexandra Popoviciu, have made it to the final of a student design competition being run by SalesGossip, the online and mobile retail concept that locates and curates fashion and beauty promotions on the high street and on the web.

Established in 2011, SalesGossip has quickly emerged as a major player in fashion retail and for its first ever student competition the company invited art, design and fashion students from across the UK to submit their designs for a tote shopping bag.

Almost 100 entries were received with Angela and Alexandra amongst the ten shortlisted finalists whose bag designs most impressed Sales Gossip’s judging panel of industry experts. The shortlisted designs will now go to an online public vote to determine the winner.

Voting is now open at SalesGossip’s website www.salesgossip.co.uk/votenow and continues until midnight on Sunday 23 March 2014. The winning design will be announced on Tuesday 25 March, and then printed on 100 exclusive tote shopping bags.

Angela Armstrong, course director in fashion design at Coventry University, said:

We’re delighted that Angelina and Alexandra have made it to the final of SalesGossip’s first ever student design competition.

Our students have had great success in nationwide fashion awards over the years and it’s nice to see the industry yet again recognising the talent we have on show here in Coventry. Angelina and Alexandra have both done brilliantly to make it to the final of this competition but hopefully one of them will go on to win it. They’d both make worthy winners so I’d urge all their friends and supporters to go online and register their vote.

Elizabetta Camilleri, co-founder and CEO of SalesGossip commented:

We are absolutely thrilled with the response to our first ever student design competition. All of us judges are extremely impressed by the high standard of entries. Indeed, we had great fun selecting the ten finalists and we are delighted to champion the next generation of top designers with our competition. We look forward to seeing the public choose a winner!
