Perennially popular nursing and midwifery courses have once again filled up at Coventry University following A-level results day, while engineering and business related courses still have spaces left in clearing which are going fast.

Sixth-formers looking to progress into higher education next year still have a chance to secure themselves a spot on some of the University’s most sought-after courses this weekend, and are being encouraged to attend the open day on Saturday to meet with tutors and discuss their options.

Several courses in the University’s Faculty of Engineering and Computing – which is moving into its new £50m building in time for the students’ arrival in September – are still available, including between 10 and 20 spaces in courses such as Automotive Engineering, Aerospace Technology and Computing.

The University’s School of Art and Design also has a similar number of places left in Performing Arts, Industrial Design and Media Production, amongst others.

Degree courses in accounting and economics are almost full, but applicants looking for courses in the Business School such as Business studies, Geography and International Relations should continue to check availability throughout Saturday as places are still available.

Professor Ian Marshall, deputy vice-chancellor of Coventry University, said:

We’ve had a busy couple of days since A-level results day but there are still opportunities for places on a number of our courses. We’d encourage prospective students to get in touch as soon as they can, or come along to our open day tomorrow to get an insight into what it’s like to study at University.

Coventry University College – which launches in September – also has places left on its flexible degree programmes. The college’s courses have been created as an alternative to a conventional degree, with modules designed to fit around a part-time job.

The University’s clearing hotline is +44 (0)24 7679 1791, and will be open between 10am and 4pm over the weekend. Remaining courses which are available can be viewed at www.coventry.ac.uk/clearing.
