London Hat Week Exhibition PosterMusic, art and nature will come together in the world of fashion when Coventry University London opens this year’s London Hat Week exhibition.

Showcasing designs inspired by David Bowie, Van Gogh and Lord of the Rings, 130 eye-catching hats will feature in the six-day spectacular which has been curated by X Terrace fashion platform, Monique Lee Hylands-White and 15 of the university’s fashion students.

Following success in 2015, this year’s London Hat Week Exhibition is titled Milliner x Artisan, and celebrates a collaboration between art and millinery with some of the most creative and cutting edge designs from 20 countries across the globe.

All creations on show have been inspired by artists, architects and musicians including David Bowie, Picasso, Monet, Frida Kahlo, Gaudi and Lady Gaga.

Designs feature Starry Night after Van Gogh’s famous painting; a Night in Peking inspired by the city’s streets; and A Dragon’s Tale after the Lord of the Rings.

Monique Lee Hylands-White, designer and acting principal lecturer for International Fashion Management, said:

“We are delighted to once again organise London Hat Week Exhibition which includes designs by some of the world’s most cutting-edge and influential designers.

This year’s celebration is another fantastic collaboration of some of the finest millinery and our fashion students have done some incredible work in helping put this amazing show together.”

The display at the Coventry University London opens on October 7.
