Coventry University Group has once again secured its place among Europe’s leading universities, ranking 193rd out of 958 institutions in the QS World University Rankings: Europe 2026.

This marks the second consecutive year the Group has featured in the top 200, despite a significant increase in competition, with 273 more institutions joining the rankings this year.

The Group continues to excel in sustainability, climbing 15 places to 103rd in Europe. It also remains a global leader in diversity, ranking 55th for International Student Diversity, reflecting its strong appeal to students from across the world.

The Group’s global reach spans UK campuses in Coventry, London and Scarborough, its European campus in Wrocław, Poland, and a joint institution in Hainan, China, supported by hubs in Singapore, India, Brussels, Africa and China. It also partners with more than 150 higher education institutions worldwide.

To maintain our position in the top 200 in Europe, with more than a third more institutions competing this year, is a remarkable achievement. It speaks volumes about the dedication and excellence of our colleagues, and I want to thank them for their commitment to delivering an outstanding learning experience and impactful research.

Our Gold rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) reflects the exceptional quality of our teaching and student experience, complementing the global recognition we’ve achieved through these rankings.

Professor Latham also welcomed the recognition of Coventry University’s sustainability drive, which is supported by a £13 million Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme grant. The funding has enabled initiatives such as installing 800 solar panels across the city centre campus, a project expected to cut carbon emissions by more than 1,300 tonnes annually - more than 20% of the Group’s fossil fuel-related emissions.

I’m proud that our efforts in sustainability are being recognised by QS. Moving closer to the top 100 in Europe is a major milestone. Sustainability is embedded in our 2030 Group Strategy, and we are determined to achieve net zero by 2030. Every action we take is aimed at creating a lasting positive impact on our planet and society.

Coventry University Group also achieved strong results in other QS indicators, rising to 159th for International Research Network and to 117th for International Faculty Ratio, reinforcing its commitment to impactful global research.

Being ranked among the top 55 institutions for International Student Diversity highlights our global reputation. Students from more than 130 nationalities continue to choose us because of the quality of our teaching and the global opportunities a Coventry University Group education provides.

I’m equally proud to see the international reach of our research recognised. Our ambition is to keep delivering impactful research and driving innovation that creates better futures for our staff, students, and the communities we serve.
