The future of innovation was at the centre of discussions as Coventry University Group hosted its first Trilateral Innovation Partnership Conference in Singapore.
The Group’s Singapore Hub, supported by the Department of Business and Trade and the Science and Innovation Network, organised a two-day event, that brought together senior representatives from industry, academia and various government and statutory boards to discuss the issues facing innovation in business and industry, in sustainability, and in research.
More than 50 participants from across the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries and the UK attended the conference at Eden Hall, the residence of the British High Commissioner in Singapore and at JEN Singapore Tanglin by Shangri-La.
We were delighted to host our first Trilateral Innovation Partnership Conference in Singapore.
To us as a Group, innovation is important as we are constantly searching for new ways to keep abreast of global challenges.
Our Singapore Hub has a rich history of promoting innovation. The aim of this latest conference was to emphasise the value of innovation and creative thinking, the importance of novel methods in meeting future challenges head on and to highlight the value of cross-sectoral learning.
It has also inspired us to think about how we as a Group can ensure that issues raised at the conference, like how can cutting edge research have practical and tangible benefits, as well as how innovative ideas can be applied across industry, academia and in local and regional governance, and actioned in our work across the globe.

Collaboration is the lifeblood of innovation, and this conference is key to helping us accelerate our progress as we develop solutions to real world problems.
We are acutely aware that issues like climate change cannot be tackled by one country alone, and that we need to join forces to develop disruptive breakthroughs for our society. We are proud of our participating Universities who are working in collaboration to establish a Singapore presence.
This conference is an important milestone, to catalyse a step-change in our ambitions and translate new bold ideas into reality.
