The grand opening of Coventry University Kazakhstan has been hailed as a “major step forward” by leaders in the country.

The campus in the capital city Astana, a collaboration between Coventry University and Primus Education LLP, will eventually be home to up to 3,500 students and the official opening event saw guests from the government, business, education and media sectors enjoy tours of the new campus.

The national postal service, Kazpost, has also created 5,000 special stamps celebrating the opening of Coventry University Kazakhstan. The blue stamp includes a skyline image of Astana, as well as the university logo and the words ‘Astana 2024’.

The links between the cities of Coventry and Astana continue even further as both are cities of peace and reconciliation, with the Kazakhstan capital also home to the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation – a 62-metre-high pyramid which serves a non-denominational spiritual centre.

Coventry University Kazakhstan was founded to support the brightest minds of our country through high-quality British education. We offer a British diploma that is recognised internationally without the need for students to leave their home.

As a university we are committed to creating a brighter future through groundbreaking scientific research. Coventry University has become a dynamic and innovative institution, with its educational programs ranked among the best in the world. These programs are now accessible to students in Kazakhstan.

We are planning to open another new campus in Astana that will be able to accommodate more students. This will be a greenfield campus, meaning that it will be built from scratch.

Miras Daulenov, President of Coventry University Kazakhstan

I am confident that the opening of Coventry University Kazakhstan will provide new impetus for the development of higher education and research, attracting the best foreign academics and practitioners, talented students and create new jobs in the capital.

For Kazakhstani and international students, Coventry University Kazakhstan will offer a unique opportunity to gain advanced knowledge and a British degree, making them competitive in the global market.

Sayasat Nurbek, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan
