Biography

Allen Stroud is a lecturer at Coventry University, where he teaches BA (Hons) Media. Stroud is a practice-based researcher, writing in a number of different media. He has worked on the computer games, Elite Dangerous (2014) and Chaos Reborn (2016).  He then worked on Phoenix Point (2019) and Baldur’s Gate 3 by Larian Studios, due for release in 2021. His editorial work on roleplaying games covers The Elite Dangerous Roleplaying Game for Spidermind Games, Revolutionaries (2019) for Make Believe Games, and I Am Zombie (2021) and Solemn Vale (TBA) for Dirty Vortex.

Stroud was chair of Fantasycon 2017 and 2018, the annual convention of the British Fantasy Society, which hosts the British Fantasy Awards and will be chair of Fantasycon 2021. In June 2019, he became Chair of the British Science Fiction Association, taking over from Donna Bond.  Stroud’s science fiction novel, Fearless (2020) published by Flame Tree Press was praised as “hard sf”, offering glimpses of a vividly plausible future for humanity as it colonises the solar system. Stroud is currently working on the new edition of The Historical Dictionary of Fantasy Literature, due to be published by Rowman and Littlefield in 2022.
