Coventry University celebrates manufacturing innovation and excellence at the 2024 Made in the Midlands Awards

Coventry University was proud to be a sponsor at the annual Made in the Midlands Awards, marking the organisation’s commitment to supporting advancements in manufacturing across the region.

Now in its 14th year, the Made in the Midlands Awards serves as a platform to celebrate inspiring new ideas, products and innovations, developed by the region’s manufacturing sector over the past year. 

Carl Perrin, Associate Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research) and former Director of the Institute for Clean Growth and Future Mobility at Coventry University, attended the event. He said: 

We are always really happy to support the Insider Made in the Midlands Awards. As a global university with a long-standing commitment to advancing manufacturing research and development in the West Midlands, it's important that we help shape the future of this industry with talented graduates, skills for workforces and academic expertise. 

This year's entries represented the very best of what manufacturing has to offer and the ceremony showcased the talent and innovation here in the Midlands.

The event, hosted at the Eastside Rooms in Birmingham by Business Insider Magazine, saw the announcement of winners across various categories, such as the Manufacturing Innovation Award, Digital Technology Award, Sustainable/Ethical Manufacturer Award, and Apprentice of the Year.

Successes on the night included: Toyota Motor Manufacturing UK, Aurrigo International, Accura Engineering, I Holland, and 200 Degrees. Mohammed Ismaeel, from Impression Technologies also won the Apprentice of the Year Award.

With an extensive manufacturing and engineering R&D portfolio, Coventry University is dedicated to driving sustainable economic growth through innovative and impactful research and teaching.

Nationally recognised for its engagement with start-ups, SMEs and large organisations, the university takes pride in its collaboration with businesses through initiatives like the Clean Futures programme, which aims to position the West Midlands at the forefront of the 'Green Industrial Revolution.'
