Immersive technology takes centre stage at key business event for the creative industries

Coventry University Group proudly hosted the second Venturefest Mobile Hub, which focused on the integration of immersive technology within the creative industries.

Led by Innovation Alliance for the West Midlands, the Venturefest Mobile Hub provides a platform for entrepreneurs, investors and innovators to network, connect and collaborate with a wide range of exciting businesses, local partners, and business support organisations.

Hosted in the university’s flagship Delia Derbyshire building, the event featured an engaging panel discussion, with business leaders sharing their innovation journeys. Guests embraced valuable insights on how creative businesses can secure investment, collaborate with specialist advisors, and foster opportunities for growth.

The specialist panel included:

  • Susi Henson, Senior Innovation and Growth Specialist at Innovate UK EDGE
  • Kevin Moss, CEO of virtual reality distraction therapy and VR training business, Rescape Innovation Ltd
  • Molly Ratcliffe, founder of Waste Projekt, an initiative producing eco-friendly composite materials from food waste
  • Sarah Beauclerk, CEO of Vere Experiences which uses VR and other digital technology to connect people to wellbeing experiences and community activities to reduce isolation and loneliness and improve health. 

Attendees received a tour of the Delia Derbyshire immersive studios and gained first-hand experience of the latest virtual reality and mixed reality technologies. 

The Delia Derbyshire building is an exciting extension of Coventry University which hosts cutting-edge equipment and spaces. Home to the university’s College of Arts and Society, the building’s hyper and immersive studios provide creative teaching and learning spaces for cross-disciplinary projects.

Closing the event, Paul Fairburn, Coventry University’s Director of Innovation expressed his enthusiasm to further collaborate and strengthen relationships with businesses.
