Coventry University Financial Planning Competition
We are excited to announce our collaboration with Young Enterprise to launch the nationwide Coventry University Financial Planning Competition for the 2026/2027 academic cycle. The prize? A full scholarship to study our Global Financial Planning BSc degree, a life-changing opportunity that could be your gateway to a rewarding and in-demand career. Details of the competition will be announced later this year.
Empowering the next generation of financial planners
As expressed by industry experts and reiterated by Jenna Ward, Dean of the College of Business and Law at Coventry University the UK is facing a shortage of qualified financial planners. As one of the few institutions offering an CII accredited undergraduate degree in financial planning, Coventry University is committed to filling this ‘advice gap’ and nurturing the next generation of financial experts.
This national competition is open to all ‘Further Education’ students and especially those with a passion for personal finance, wealth management, and helping others make informed financial decisions. This scholarship isn’t just about earning a degree, it’s about unlocking doors to an exciting career in financial planning, learning financial skills that students can personally benefit from, while entering a field that is as rewarding as it is in demand.
Abraham Okasanya, CEO of Timeline, a key industry sponsor involved with the scholarship describes how they hoped that a young person who perhaps wouldn’t have considered financial planning as a career path will now be able to do so.

What does the scholarship mean to you?
In addition to the tuition coverage, gain a head start to your future career in the financial industry through industry mentorship and networking opportunities. You can also hone your practical skills in our Bloomberg accredited Trading Floor, a dedicated space to practice simulated trading and other finance-related activities using a wide range of industry-standard demo software.
There are opportunities for students to engage in mentorship activities, to learn from academics with industry experience, to gain professional qualification. There is a real community of students who are keen to support individuals within financial planning, ensuring students have a good sense of belonging, but also a good experience on the course.

How can this scholarship shape your future?
Current winner of the competition, Nakita Lai, describes her experience: “This opportunity means a lot because the scholarship relieves my financial burdens as well as offering great networking opportunities. It helps me in achieving my objectives of becoming a financial advisor on a global scale.”
Whether you're passionate about helping people manage their money, making a difference in the community, or becoming a leader in the financial planning industry, this scholarship can help make your ambitions a reality.
All students who study financial planning with us will have a chance to do the CISI qualifications. So, on completion, they have the qualification to practice as a financial planner. What it means for the students is that there are fewer professional exams to take, and they are ready to hit the ground, and work as a financial planner when they graduate.
