Funding your postgraduate course

There are lots of options available to you to fund your postgraduate programme, from alumni bursaries to school and department scholarships and government loans.

When it comes to funding, it's important to start early. Here are the different ways you can finance your postgraduate studies.

UK Postgraduate loan scheme

Government funded loans have been introduced to support postgraduate study in England. Loans up to £12,167 are available for anyone aged under 60, if your course starts before the end of July 2024. Student Finance England outlines the key features of the Government funded postgraduate loans. 2024/25 academic year funding will be published on the above website at the end of March 2024.

Students studying for either a Postgraduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) or an Initial Teacher Training (ITT) course are unable to qualify for a Postgraduate Master's Loan, but can apply for teacher training funding.

You should apply early to make sure you get your finance in time for the start of the course, even if you do not have a confirmed place yet.

Please visit the findamasters website for further details on funding.
