Cutting edge software will give students the competitive edge
Thursday 19 December 2013
Students hoping to forge a career in event management have received a boost with the news that Coventry University has joined forces with one of the industry’s leading software providers.
Global specialist software suppliers Eventsforce have entered into a partnership with the University to assist in the development of courses and qualifications as part of its undergraduate and postgraduate event management degree programmes.
Combining academic expertise with insider business knowledge, the new partnership will see the University and Eventsforce working together to create a qualification that has practical and real-world commercial benefits, setting Coventry University students apart at a time when the graduate job market is extremely competitive.
The content of the course will be tailored to help students gain an understanding of how to best use the Eventsforce event management software suite and to better appreciate the benefits that event technology can bring to both event professionals and attendees.
Ian Webster, Senior Lecturer in Event Management at Coventry University said:
Gone are the days that a student at university can secure graduate employment on the back of a good degree qualification alone. A student needs to be 'industry ready' when they graduate from university. By this I mean they should have a CV filled with relevant work and voluntary experience gained whilst studying their degree, and be proficient in relevant skills dictated by industry itself.
Our partnership with Eventsforce ticks all the relevant boxes. After completing the Eventsforce Certification Programme as part of their curriculum our event management students will be ahead of the game when it comes to graduate employment and placements within the event industry.
These investments and engagements made with industry leaders, such as Eventsforce, are reasons why Coventry University is ranked as the number one UK institution offering degree programmes in event management.
George Sirius, CEO of Eventsforce, said:
I am incredibly proud that Eventsforce has teamed up with Coventry University. It is so important to nurture the new talent from an early stage as these students represent the future of the events industry.
We want to begin to bridge the increasing gap between academia and industry by helping to develop a course built around key learning points that we believe are essential in the events industry, based on our experiences of almost 10 years.
By doing so, we will be producing a course that is of benefit not only to the students, but also to the work environment that they will soon be entering.
