Geography and Environment

If you are interested in how our rapidly changing world affects lives around the globe, then we could have the right course for you.

  • We place a strong emphasis on fieldwork to develop your skills, with opportunities to undertake field trips in the UK and overseas*. Past trips include The Gambia, Morocco, Berlin and the Lake District.
  • All our courses have a strong focus on your future employability. Our graduates have gone on to successful careers in organisations such as the Environment Agency, Met Office, Ordnance Survey, Severn Trent, EON and the Red Cross UK.
  • Our large range of optional modules in geography allows you to tailor your degree to suit your interests, with topics such as climate change, development, alternative subcultures, planning and sustainability.
  • We provide a common first year across our Geography BA (Hons) and BSc (Hons) courses, ensuring you will be introduced to the breadth of the geography discipline.
  • Following successful completion of your second year, you will have an option to apply for a one-year professional work placement or study abroad in a partner institution*.
  • Specialist facilities* include our interactive Simulation Centre, a soils lab, geotechnics lab, CAD studios, map room and high-specification computer lab.
