Coventry University courses ranked among country’s best in new league table
Wednesday 25 April 2018
Coventry University’s courses have been rated as among the best in the country in the Complete University Guide 2019 league table, published today.
The university was ranked in the top 10 across three subject areas – hospitality, leisure, recreation and tourism (8th); occupational therapy (8th); and physiotherapy (7th) – with an overall placing of 47th in this year’s comparative tables.
Coventry also features in the top 20 for a further seven subject areas: art and design (17th); building (20th); drama, dance and cinematics (15th); forensic science (12th); food science (11th); general engineering (18th); and sports science (12th).
The annual guide ranks 129 universities by measuring student satisfaction, research quality and graduate prospects.
Today’s rankings build on recent league table successes for the university, with highlights including 12th spot in the Guardian University Guide 2018 and a gold rating in the government’s Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF), which measures the quality of teaching across UK higher education institutions.
Separate rankings by Times Higher Education magazine and higher education blog Wonkhe both placed Coventry top in the UK in the TEF based on analyses of the metrics used by the government – including teaching, the quality of assessment and feedback by tutors, and outcomes for students when they graduate.
I’m delighted to see that our commitment to teaching excellence and to improving our students’ experience is being recognised and that our courses are being acknowledged for their quality.
We’re proud of the dedication our staff members show. We’ve always said that this dedication to providing the very highest level of value, experience and employment prospects for our students is defining what kind of university we are in a way that league tables cannot. Our investment in teaching and learning will continue here in Coventry and at our other campuses around the UK to ensure we’re providing some of the best, and best value, degree courses in the country.
