Student guide to coming to the UK

When you come to Coventry you are joining a truly global university. With 13,000 international students studying with us, we have welcomed students from over 150 countries. We know how to support you from the moment you apply, helping you settle in as quickly as possible so you can start enjoying student life. You can find everything you need to know here about visas and immigration, getting here, accommodation and student support.

Your international student journey starts here!

You've found your perfect course, successfully applied and accepted your offer of a place at Coventry University. Now it's time to plan your move to the UK!

  • When you accept your offer to study here, you will need to provide all the evidence we request so that we can issue you with a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS).

Your CAS letter will be emailed to you, so please make sure we have the most up-to-date email address for you and keep checking your inbox.

You must have your CAS letter before you can apply for a visa and university accommodation, so it's really important that you get all the evidence we need to us as soon as possible.

  • Once you have your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) letter you can apply for your visa. You will need to apply within the 3 months before the start of your course. Visa applications can take 15 working days (sometimes longer for UKVI) to consider your visa application, so please make sure you give yourself enough time.

  • It's really important that you have booked your accommodation before you arrive in the UK. We've got everything you need to know about applying for university accommodation as an international student.

We have a wide range of excellent accommodation on offer to students. These include traditional halls of residence, self-catered and ensuite rooms, all on or within close proximity of our campus. Find a place to call home.

  • You will probably be flying to the UK, which is why we've provided advice on planning your journey and getting to campus from most major UK international airports.
