Starting a university application from another country is a big moment. If you’re applying directly to Coventry University, you’re already taking a brilliant step toward your future. To help you feel confident from the very beginning, we have put together a simple guide to walk you through the online application process.
Many delays happen because students submit incomplete or unclear documents, so a little preparation now can save you a lot of time later.
Getting started: What you’ll need
Before you open the application form, it’s worth gathering everything you’ll need. This will make the whole process smoother and help our admissions team review your application quickly.
You’ll need:
academic transcripts
passport
statement of purpose
references
English language test score
A few quick tips:
save each file as a PDF under 10MB
make sure everything is in English
check that your scans are clear and easy to read.
Think of this step as packing your suitcase before a big trip. Once everything is ready, the journey becomes much easier.
Setting up your online account
When you’re ready, head to the Coventry University website and select ‘Apply to us directly’. You’ll be asked to register using your email address. Try to use the same email throughout your entire application and visa process. This will help things keep everything connected.
Beginning your application
Once your account is created, click ‘Begin your application’. Enter your personal details exactly as they appear on your passport or travel documents. This helps us avoid delays later, especially when preparing your CAS for your visa.
Take your time here; accuracy really matters.
Choosing your course
Next, search for the course you want to study. Double check that you’ve selected the correct one before moving on.
If you’re applying for a top-up course, remember to change the entry stage to 2 or 3, depending on your year of entry. If you don’t, the course may not appear in the system.
You’ll then be asked to enter your address details. Give these a quick review before continuing.
Working through the application sections
The application is divided into clear sections:
Personal details
Academic background
Supporting documents
Upload each document in the correct place and make sure everything is readable. You can save your progress as you go, so there’s no rush to finish everything in one sitting.
Some of our courses, particularly in the School of Art and Design, may invite you to an interview or ask for a portfolio. Depending on your country, you may also be asked to complete a Credibility Interview or provide bank statements as part of the visa process.
These steps are normal and nothing to worry about. They simply help us understand your background and support your journey to the UK.
Before you submit: A quick checklist
A few final checks can make a big difference:
Have you completed every section?
Do your names match across all documents?
Are your uploads clear and the correct versions?
Is your contact information accurate?
Have you selected the right course?
If everything looks good, you’re ready to submit.
What happens next
After submitting, you’ll see a confirmation screen. Our admissions team will then begin reviewing your application. This usually takes a short while, so keep an eye on your email. We will contact you if we need anything else.
Receiving Your Offer and Next Steps
If you receive an offer, you’ll need to log back into the portal to accept it. From there, you may need to:
pay a deposit
upload proof of payment
complete your CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies)
begin your visa application.
Once everything is approved, you’ll be able to enrol online.
Helpful tips to avoid delays
Avoid uploading blurry or incomplete documents.
Don’t leave any sections blank.
Keep track of deadlines.
Use the same email address throughout.
Make sure all documents are in English.
These small steps help us process your application as quickly as possible.
