Event details

This event is part of Coventry University's Festival of Social Science 2026 and is supported through the ESRC Impact Acceleration Account.

This interactive event explores how different cultural communities understand and support health and wellbeing through traditional remedies, medicinal plants and everyday cultural practices.

Through storytelling, interactive demonstrations, community discussions and hands-on activities, you will have the opportunity to share experiences, discover traditional knowledge and explore questions such as:

  • Why do particular plants become important within particular communities?

  • How is knowledge about traditional remedies passed between generations?

  • How does cultural identity influence health and wellbeing behaviour?

  • How do people decide whom to trust for health information?

  • How do cultural practices change when communities migrate and establish themselves in new places?

  • How might financial pressures influence household approaches to wellbeing and healthcare?

Who’s leading the event?
