Join us for the launch of the Net Zero Future Skills report, an in-depth exploration into the skills and workforce development needed to support the West Midlands — and the UK more broadly — on its journey to a Net Zero economy.
This event will bring together key policymakers, industry leaders, and regional partners to discuss the report's findings and the actions required to prepare our workforce for a sustainable future. Be part of the conversation shaping the future of the UK’s workforce in the journey to net zero.
The United Kingdom is on a path towards achieving net-zero emissions and securing its energy future. The government's Net Zero Strategy and the British Energy Security Strategy have set ambitious goals, with estimates suggesting that these policies could support the creation of 480,000 green jobs by 2030. Furthermore, the Energy Innovation Needs Assessment published by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) has identified business opportunities arising from decarbonisation that could potentially support approximately 500,000 jobs in the UK by 2050. Considering these significant opportunities, it is crucial for us to bring together industry leaders and policy makers to understand and identify the emerging skill gaps and future workforce requirements that will be essential for driving innovation and growth in critical sectors.
