Specialist NHS dental service to open at Coventry University, improving access for patients and students

Coventry University has welcomed a new NHS dental practice to campus bringing faster access to oral surgery for students and patients across Coventry. Cathedral Dental, which is based in the university’s Hub building, enhances the on-campus healthcare offering for both students and staff with services including preventative care, restorative dentistry, hygiene therapy, cosmetic treatments, oral surgery and dental implants.
The clinic will also provide emergency dental care and specialist-led treatment where required.
More than 80% of the clinic’s work will be dedicated to NHS patients.
It is a pleasure to welcome Cathedral Dental to our Coventry campus. The addition of a specialist dental clinic at Coventry University represents a significant expansion of on-site health services. Located alongside existing GP provision, the new facility will allow for direct NHS referrals, helping patients access treatment more quickly and conveniently.

University-aged patients commonly present with oral health issues associated with lifestyle changes, dietary habits, stress and not regularly attending the dentist. This age group may also demonstrate reduced engagement with preventative dental care due to financial pressures, relocation, or competing academic commitments.

In addition to improving healthcare access, the new clinic is expected to bring increased footfall to the area, supporting local businesses and contributing to the vibrancy of the university’s surroundings.
The clinic will offer a 15% discount to Coventry University staff and students, further improving access to care for the campus community.
