Coventry University is continuing to expand its global reach with a commitment to explore offering qualifications that can open up new opportunities and support students’ future ambitions in Sri Lanka.

A long-standing partnership between Coventry University and the National Institute of Business Management (NIBM) already sees 3,233 students currently studying for Coventry University qualifications in Sri Lanka.

The partners have now signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with a view to see eight new courses delivered at a new site, the southern Innovation Centre of NIBM - which is to set begin operations in December.

The new courses would cover areas such as computer science, management and leadership, marketing and finance.

All the qualifications are Coventry University accredited and the aim is for 160 students to eventually study the new courses by November 2029.

The partnership between Coventry University and NIBM already allows learners on some NIBM and Coventry University courses to finish their studies in Sri Lanka or transfer to finish them at Coventry University’s city centre campus or at Coventry University London.

Last month a delegation from NIBM visited Coventry University to sign an MOU agreement signalling the intention to explore further areas of collaboration between the two organisations.

We have developed a strong relationship with the National Institute of Business Management since 2017, delivering transformational qualifications to thousands of students.

Coventry University has long been recognised for its international approach to professional, vocational and technical education and we believe building strong links with partners across the globe helps us share best research and teaching practices and deliver positive outcomes for learners.

Professor Ian Dunn, Provost at Coventry University

We are very happy to be expanding our collaboration with Coventry University with the opening of the southern Innovation Centre of NIBM.

This MOU will serve to further strengthen the incredible relationship between our two organisations and offer students world-class academic pathways. Innovation is key to NIBM’s work and it is through relationships such as these that we help our students to shine across the globe.

Dr D.M.A Kulasooriya, Director General of the National Institute of Business Management
