Coventry University Group is strengthening its presence in Kazakhstan with the official opening of its second campus - making it the first British university with two sites in the country.
The new Coventry University Kazakhstan campus in Almaty – another partnership with Primus Capital LLP – officially opened on 22 September and follows the success of the first campus in the capital city Astana.
It is another major milestone in the global education group’s international growth and its commitment to delivering high-quality British higher education to students around the world.
The new campus in Almaty is another step in our journey to be a global education group. Students at this new campus will be studying in state of the art facilities alongside 30,000 others studying Coventry University degrees overseas.
Coventry University Group is dedicated to creating better futures through accessible international education. Our students in Kazakhstan will be able to study in a modern and inspiring environment, taught by world-class academics alongside our course teams in the UK.

The first students at the Almaty campus will study foundation courses in Business, Computing, International Relations, Engineering and Arts and Design, with undergraduate courses such as Electronic Engineering, Architectural Technology and Games Design and Development, as well as master’s in subjects including Air Transport Management and Control, Robotics and Intelligent Automation to follow.
Coventry University Kazakhstan was established in September 2024, becoming the first British university campus in Astana. This original campus is now being redeveloped as part of a major investment in a new flagship university complex, scheduled to open in 2027. Marked with a ceremony on 21 September, a time capsule was laid in the foundations of the Astana campus as a message to future generations of students.
Coventry University Kazakhstan is helping students access internationally-recognised British education without leaving Kazakhstan, strengthening the country’s human capital and supporting its technological and innovative development.
More than 850 students have placed their trust in Coventry University’s academic expertise in Astana and Almaty, benefiting from a world-class education and an international learning environment.
We laid a time capsule to mark the beginning of construction of our new greenfield campus in Astana as an important step in our long-term strategy to provide modern, high-quality infrastructure for our growing student community as part of Primus Capital's strategy.
At the same time, opening our new campus in Almaty will expand our traditional academic offer into Engineering, Art and Design and emerging technologies, drawing on Coventry University’s expertise in these fields. In this regard, we are grateful to our partners, including Rise Group, Astana Motors, Jaguar Land Rover, DOSCAR Group and Air Astana, for supporting us in creating new opportunities for our talented students.

The development of a new campus by an international university reflects young people’s growing demand for high-quality education and strengthens Kazakhstan’s academic capacity. Projects of this kind create new opportunities for students, educators and researchers while contributing to the country’s human capital.
