Coventry University has received its highest ever placing in the latest QS World University Rankings.

In the 21st edition of the rankings, released by global higher education analyst Quacquarelli Symonds, Coventry University was placed 531st in the world out of 1,503 institutions, moving up 40 places from 2024.

The university’s international appeal is also highlighted with a ranking of 35th worldwide for international students. As well as welcoming international students to its campuses in Coventry, London and Scarborough, Coventry University Group also has a campus in Poland, a branch campus in Egypt, a branded campus in Morocco, a joint institute in China and collaborations with more than 70 universities and colleges worldwide providing transnational education to more than 21,000 students.

The Group also has six Global Hubs - in India, Dubai, Brussels, Africa, China and Singapore – which develop relationships to further the global reach of its research, education and enterprise and innovation activity.

The university’s ongoing commitment to net zero by 2030 saw a huge jump in the QS rankings to 243rd for sustainability. A recent grant of £13million from the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme, which is funded by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, will help towards the cost of installing around 1,300 new solar panels and connecting nine Coventry University buildings to the city's district energy network. It is hoped the proposals could reduce the Group’s carbon emissions by more than 1,300 tonnes per year – more than a fifth of its annual carbon emissions arising from the use of fossil fuels.

Another metric where the university improved was for international research network, moving up to 283rd thanks to the global reach of its expanded research portfolio.

Coventry University’s mission is creating better futures and our upward trajectory in these rankings show we are making a real difference, not only to our students but also our local and global communities.

Our efforts to hitting net zero by the end of the decade continue at speed and we are delighted that these have been recognised in the QS World University Rankings, along with our dedication to offering high-quality education to thousands of students whether here on British shores or elsewhere across the globe.
