Coventry University Group is to discuss the potential to enhance simulation-based training and research with the COSEM Safety and Security Services in Singapore.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the university group and the service. Its purpose is to discuss and develop progression to Coventry degree programmes; develop potential areas of joint research in relation to enhancing and building up capability and knowledge in emergency response training; and to discuss the possibility of additional courses and programmes involving simulation training and education. This would include courses on Crisis Media, utilising Coventry University Enterprises’ Predict Media and Incident Command training.

Commissioner of the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) Eric Yap, COSEM’s CEO Michael Chua, the Director of the Civil Defence Academy Md Firoz Ramjan, International Affairs officer Rafillah Rapit, and COSEM’s Communications manager Natalie Koh were in attendance for the signing on 18 September and to meet with Coventry University Vice-Chancellor and Group CEO, Professor John Latham CBE. The event was held in the Simulation Centre on Coventry University’s Technology Park.

COSEM is an excellent organisation which not only offers fire safety and medical training but provides secondary career opportunities for retired and former personnel of the Singapore Civil Defence Force, who lead the training.

We are delighted to be collaborating with COSEM and the former SCDF professionals – it's a great opportunity for Coventry University Group to continue to deliver education across the world as well as be part of important research in such a vital area like emergency response training.

We are proud to be a global education group that also delivers teacher training, apprenticeships, executive education and CPD to various industries and government bodies with collaborations all over the world, helped by our network of Global Hubs in key markets.
