Coventry University is in talks on the potential to open a branded campus in Sri Lanka.

The university has strengthened its ties with the International Institute of Health Sciences (IIHS) in the South Asian country after signing a Memorandum of Understanding which includes discussions around a branded campus.

The collaboration between Coventry University and IIHS began in 2013 with a pathway for undergraduate nursing students and in 2019 IIHS was approved as a transnational education partner with a range of health courses currently being offered. There are now more than 1,300 active students enrolled on Coventry University programmes and modules at IIHS, with plans to increase the number of courses on offer.

More and more IIHS students are choosing to progress to Coventry University to study the final year of their undergraduate studies or postgraduate taught programmes in Coventry, while some graduates are taking up the opportunity to work in the NHS thanks to collaborations with hospital trusts in the UK.

Growing our collaboration with IIHS will develop Coventry University’s footprint in the region and will enable us to engage in a range of regional health projects.

Our offering in Sri Lanka is helping to add to the country’s own workforce, while also creating employment opportunities for the NHS back in the UK.

Professor John Latham CBE, Vice-Chancellor of Coventry University Group

We are excited to initiate this transformative journey in conjunction with Coventry University. We are pleased at the potential of being acknowledged by Coventry University as a branded campus in South Asia.

This collaboration not only strengthens our commitment to delivering top-tier education but also reflects our joint vision to broaden educational horizons and enhance opportunities for aspiring students across South Asia.
