People in the West Midlands can apply for free training in a range of digital skills to help them get into exciting new careers, thanks to a collaboration between Coventry University and the employment charity, Resume Foundation.

The program will see Coventry University deliver four free courses on behalf of the employment charity, covering subjects such as cyber security, data science, digital marketing and user experience and interface.

Each of these areas is experiencing rapid growth in the UK and therefore offer increased job opportunities for the next generation of digital learners.

In addition to the digital bootcamps, those taking part can benefit from support from a business mentor, employability training including job interview preparation, CV writing and more, as well as four weeks work experience.

Our aim is to provide candidates with highly desirable skills to give them the best chance possible of securing jobs within the UK’s thriving digital economy.

The course areas we are covering are key growth areas and those taking part could potentially open the door to a well-paid job within this interesting and ever evolving sector. We’re proud to be collaborating with Resume Foundation and the technical expertise we can offer will help change people’s lives for the better.

Edita Zieniute, Institute of Coding Business Innovation Development Manager at Coventry University

We are passionate about providing our candidates with the skills to go out and succeed in their careers. Our focus is to help candidates show they are ‘job ready’ to an employer, and digital technologies are integral to a wide range of sectors.

In addition to the digital bootcamps delivered by Coventry University, we offer our candidates wraparound support, and a four-week work experience placement.

Candidates just need to be interested in and comfortable with IT; they don’t need any previous IT qualifications. This program is designed to inspire candidates and provide a gateway into high quality jobs.

Carolyn Doherty, Chair of Trustees at Resume Foundation

All the bootcamp courses are delivered online by expert tutors over an eight-week period through a combination of shared video calls, one-to-one tutor sessions and shared screen time.
