Amanda Brooks

Biography

I joined the School of Computing, Electronics and Maths in September 2012. Previous to this, I had 18 years' industry experience working as a senior software engineer in a variety of sectors, using a wide variety of programming languages. During this time, I gained experience in a number of areas relating to software design and development, including extensive database and web-design skills. I have always wanted to teach and the skills I gained during my time in industry help greatly with relating the theoretical aspects taught in the classroom to real world examples that students can relate to. I enjoy my job immensely and feel privileged to work with such talented young people, whom I hope benefit from my experiences.
