Fawad Amir is a Lecturer (Teaching) in Ethical Hacking and Cyber Security at Coventry University. He teaches across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in areas including Security Operations, Digital Forensics, Information Security, Ethical Hacking, and Cyber Security Management.

He currently leads modules in Security Operations and Digital Forensics and has experience in curriculum development, assessment design, project supervision, and student support. His teaching focuses on helping students connect theory with practical cyber security skills through hands on activities, case studies, and industry relevant learning.

Fawad holds an MSc in Information Security and Digital Forensics and a BSc in Computer Science. His interests include Security Operations, Digital Forensics, Artificial Intelligence, AI literacy, Academic Integrity, Digital Investigations, and emerging cyber security technologies.

Career overview

Fawad has worked in Higher Education across teaching, module leadership, curriculum development, and student supervision roles. Prior to joining Coventry University, he worked as a Lecturer at the University of East London, where he taught a range of cyber security and computing related modules.

Throughout his academic career, he has delivered teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, supervised final year projects, developed practical learning activities, and supported students from diverse educational backgrounds.

Alongside his academic work, he has experience within cyber security, digital forensics, information security, systems administration, and technology support environments, enabling him to bring practical industry examples into his teaching.

Research

Fawad's areas of interest include Security Operations, Digital Forensics, Cyber Security Education, Artificial Intelligence, AI Literacy, Academic Integrity, and the responsible use of emerging technologies.

As part of his MSc in Information Security and Digital Forensics, he developed and designed a Digital Twin (DT) for Cyber Physical Systems (CPS) to assess and improve system trustworthiness. This work explored the use of digital twin technology to model and evaluate the security and reliability of interconnected systems.

He is particularly interested in exploring the impact of Artificial Intelligence within Higher Education, the security challenges associated with Generative and Agentic AI systems, and the use of AI to support cyber security operations and digital investigations.

His ongoing scholarly interests focus on improving cyber security education, developing practical learning approaches, and helping students build the technical and professional skills required by industry.
