Biography

Han Zhang has had active teaching roles; her most current role was as Module Leader for Data Mining Methodologies and Applications for Postgraduate students. During this role, she taught PGs about data mining by using IBM SPSS software to analyse survey data and mine text data. She also gets proactively involved in nurturing eleven undergraduates for their individual projects. Besides, she supports students at the SIGMA centre at Coventry University.

Career overview

Han Zhang is an Assistant Lecturer in Decision Making and Risk Management at the School of Strategy and Leadership, Coventry University. She is the Module Leader for Data Mining Methodologies and Applications on the Business Analytics course at Coventry Business School.

Prior to joining Coventry University, she had almost six years’ industry experience as a Sales Manager in China and then move to a professional international trading organization as an Exporting Manager within Middle East organizations in the stainless-steel field from 2012 to 2018. Whilst at these two types of organizations she held the roles of Sales Assistant, Sales Manager, and Export Manager and moved from manufacturing to a trading company.

Currently, Han Zhang is undertaking her PhD program in Supply Chain Management. Her research focuses on advanced technologies application in the manufacturing context such as supply chain management, operations management, blockchain, Industry 4.0 and circular economy. Her research work has been published in European Conference Knowledge Management in 2021. Apart from that, she taught at both UG (including dissertation supervision) and PGT levels in areas such as Business Models and Processes, Business Analytics, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Data Mining Methodologies and Applications and Data Analysis. Also, she is one of the educators at High Value Manufacturing Catapult in Emerging Skills Project.

Research

Her research examines blockchain adoption in supply chain and mainly focuses on the application in manufacturing context. Specifically, she is enthusiastic in advanced technologies implementation in the steel manufacturing. Her contribution is to promote automation development in manufacturing toward UN SDGs and facilitate better decision-making, providing insights into the future and solve industrial, societal problems etc. Her research scope is in the following areas:
