Why did you choose Coventry University for your studies?

I decided to pursue my postgraduate studies in biomedical science at Coventry University due to its extensive curriculum, which includes courses on cutting-edge subjects like stem cell technologies and genomics.

The programme prepares graduates for positions in both NHS and private laboratories by providing them with real-world, hands-on experience. Another important element was the university's significant emphasis on professional skill development and employability.

What practical elements are embedded in your course?

Students gain hands-on laboratory experience in advanced research labs and engage in professional development activities. The course features practical sessions in areas such as molecular biology, microbiology, haematology and clinical biochemistry.

What do you hope to get from your master’s?

I hope to gain advanced knowledge and practical skills in biomedical research and clinical applications. My studies have enhanced my critical thinking, problem-solving abilities and professional competencies, positioning me well for roles in both clinical and research environments.

Have you had the chance to make friends?

Yes, I have made a lot of friends from different backgrounds which has inspired me.

What are your experiences of Coventry as a city?

It’s really nice and everything is accessible. I’m living in Coventry. It has been very welcoming and it feels like home

Do you have any advice for someone looking to do your course?

Get ready for a demanding but worthwhile experience. Given that molecular biology and clinical sciences constitute the mainstay of the curriculum, concentrate on building a solid foundation in these areas.

Utilise the opportunities for industrial placements and hands-on laboratory work to acquire useful skills. Take advantage of every opportunity for professional advancement that is provided.

Succeeding in this course and your future profession requires striking a balance between theoretical understanding and real-world applicability.
